Day 4 - Camping on the Mountain

We began day 4 with a swim in the spring fed pool at Balmorhea State Park.  It was cold, but felt great.

We decided to leave Balmorhea a day early and continue our journey west.  We encountered our first border patrol checkpoint.  It was interesting to see.  After waiting a few minutes in line, when it was our turn they just asked if we were all American citizens, then let us pass through.

Jen got online, and found a great little state park in New Mexico called Rockhound State Park.  It is a small park, but has some great views!  It is just outside of Deming, New Mexico.  We were able to go into town last night to watch the fireworks.  It was a nice show for a small town.

We are going to get our first hike of the trip in tomorrow.
I will be sure to take plenty of pics!!!
